A Life Less Ordinary

Modern Day Nomads? That’s Us!

I am taking the easy way out today with my blog. I truly ought to prioritize my book and I am a bit demotivated because of a Bluehost server problem that was out of our hands, last Friday. It broke our 3 websites at a critical time, for 16 hours straight; just when I had put some extra effort into a few things. You gotta love the internet, and hosting services you pay a lot of money for…

So, I am offering up two links today. Don’t worry, they are not affiliate links, nor do they bring you somewhere you don’t want to be. The first one is a recent interview with us, by Modern Day Nomads, which officially declares us nomads of the present (and the future). 🙂 If you have ever wondered what this lifestyle involves, please have a read and be inspired: http://www.moderndaynomads.com/roaming-about/

Our dogs Darwin and Kali were nomads as well, but of the four-legged kind. I paid a tribute to our youngest one, Darwin, a couple of weeks ago. It made me realize I couldn’t leave out our girl, Kali. You can find a blog about her last days here. I have to warn you that emotional souls might like to skip that story and immediately move on to my second link of today. This one will guarantee a smile on your face as it shows a collection of photos of a very happy Kali, enjoying world explorations: https://itsirie.shutterfly.com/9140  Click on the first photo to get started… Once you click on “1 comment” underneath, it will show them all automatically as you move through the photos.

Have a great week!

  1. Technology is great except when it doesn’t work 🙁 Glad you’re back up and running now. Off to check out your interview.

    • Yep! I remember all your computer issues not too long ago! 🙁 Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful week, Ellen!

  2. Very interesting interview! Having twice returned from a vet with an empty cat basket I know how it feels having to put down your pet. It never goes away – our last time was 2008 and I still can’t think about it without welling up.

    • I’m so sorry to hear about your cats, Anabel. Our love and care for our pets last a lifetime. But so do the memories and the smiles that come with them. When adopting pets, or bringing them into our lives, we know about the sorrow that will one day await, but all the moments before that are so blissful and unique! 🙂

  3. I thought the interview was really well done and interesting but I couldn’t read about Kali — I still can’t think about our Sally’s last year of life without getting upset. I did, however, check out her pictures. What a sweetie!

    Have a great week,
    Stephanie @ SV CAMBRIA

    • The Kali story is a sad one, so it is probably good you skipped it. The sadness after our dogs’ passing lasts incredibly long. Over time, it does become easier to smile remembering all the great moments, than tear up because of that big hole in our hearts.

  4. Great interview! I loved the photos of Kali, what a sweet and happy dog.

  5. A great interview and I love the tribute to Kali – what a beautiful soul :o)

    • Thanks, Kali. She had a very deep understanding of things and a look that was so insightful and inquisitive! Very different from her “happy go lucky” brother Darwin. 🙂

  6. Hope your week improves by leaps and bounds 🙂 🙂

Hi, Liesbet – Thanks for the link to Modern Day Nomads. That is a great article on you and Mark. Like a few others, I couldn’t (yet) read your post about Kali. I did, however, love the gorgeous photos!

    • I totally understand, Donna. Reading about your Cody made me tear up as well. 🙁 For some reason, the end of the year always makes me a little sad. But, I’d like to cheers to a New Year of animal love and happiness for all kind creatures. Maybe there is a puppy destined to make its way into your and/or our lives in 2017?

  8. Visiting on a ?Random Raid! … all links still good, no problems 🙂
