A Life Less Ordinary

WW – Morning Scenes

I have decided to post photos of past travels in general and our eight year sailing adventure on SV Irie in particular for Wordless Wednesdays. I hope you enjoy them. Also, I can’t do completely “wordless”, but I try my best with “almost wordless”. 🙂

This week’s Daily Post photography theme is “morning”.  Since Mark and I live everywhere and nowhere, our morning looks quite different depending on which place we call home for the time being. Here are some morning photos of the past and the present…

What does your morning look like? Do you have any memorable morning experiences from the past?

  1. Poor Jenny. She wants to get up and join in, but those old bones just don’t work they way they used to.

    • You know, Janis, you hit the nail on the head. We have actually seen a difference in her already over the four months we have been here. Mark and I have decided not to take her on long or challenging hikes anymore. While she thoroughly enjoys them, she is so tired and sometimes sore afterwards… 🙂 But, we make up with lots of cuddles and attention, and a multitude of shorter walks. We will surely miss her when we leave.

  2. Gorgeous mornings! Even the rain! Do you have a favorite “morning”?

    • You know what? I haven’t even thought about an all-time favorite morning! I just enjoy the diversity of them all. Let me think… I think my favorite morning would be one with an incredible view, nice weather, no stress and a yummy breakfast! I think that happened on my birthday in the Caribbean once. One day, I will encounter this combination again during a vacation somewhere – in the mountains or the wild west – and be sure to take a photo of it. 🙂 What is yours???

  3. No. 3 looks unreal, Liesbet! 🙂 One of my more memorable mornings was in the Douro valley, in Portugal, with the mist hanging over the river.

    • The one in Portugal sounds like a mysterious morning! I do miss some of those “scenic” mornings on our sailboat… How life changes all the time and not necessarily in a bad way. 🙂

  4. Great photos! We were up at 530am today to go through the Dismal Swamp and get to MM0. I actually love early morning… So peaceful, and you feel like you are accomplishing something.

    • I agree! If only I could get up early every morning! On the ICW that wasn’t a problem, because we did long trips and needed early starts. But now, it is a bit harder, even though this house does not have curtains in the bedroom. 🙂 The best part of an early start is that you have more time in the day and do feel like you accomplish things, indeed!

  5. Kookoo looks like she wants your breakfast 🙂 Poor Jenny. It’s hard to have the spirit of a puppy, but the aches and pains of a twelve year old body.

    • Cheeky Kookoo, indeed. Yes. Jenny is so cute… A young 12-year old that is slowly starting to show her age… 🙂

  6. Love the variety of your morning scenes Liesbet. Living in Canada we have quite the different mornings depending on the seasons. I do love when we travel and waking up to an ocean in the morning. For someone who grew up in the land locked prairies I’m not sure why I am so drawn to the water but it’s very soothing.

    • Yes! Waking up to the sound of lapping waves on shore (or breaking waves on reefs protecting the anchorage) is one of the nicest things a morning can contain. It belongs to the love part of my love-hate relationship with the ocean. The water can be soothing, indeed! 🙂
