Thursday Doors – In Picturesque, Free-spirited, and Historic Bisbee, Arizona

About a year and a half ago, Mark and I (and our friends Duwan and Greg) visited Bisbee in southeastern Arizona. Other than sightseeing and getting a good feel for this historic town’s vibe, we looked at houses for sale. Yes, there was a time that we might have gotten serious about the prospect of owning a “real” home. But, us being wandering spirits, picky, and frugal made us pass on Bisbee, a town we enjoyed exploring. I blogged about those impressions and experiences here.

(As always, hover over or click on photos in galleries to read their captions.)

It was in this picturesque town that I took a few photos of doors, thinking that, one day, I would join the Thursday Doors blog hop. Yeah, sometimes it takes me a while to follow up on thoughts and ideas. 🙂

Dan Antion blogs at No Facilities and organizes the weekly #ThursdayDoors event. Check out the rules and his latest post here.

I remember a few of those doors!

  2. I’ve never been to Bisbee but I’m kind of, sort of planning an Arizona road trip in October and it’s on my list. Good to know that they have interesting doors 🙂

    • A fall road trip in Arizona sounds great, Janis. I have a feeling that you both might like Bisbee and its atmosphere.

  3. You buying a house–that would be one for the record books!

    • Haha. So far, it hasn’t happened, Jacqui. I think at some point, a casita or cottage somewhere “exotic” might be in our future. Every year on the road seems to bring more challenges and there is no place to find relief.

  4. It looks like it’s a wonderful area. Thanks for sharing the doors and gates. The unwelcoming one is a sad warning, but I guess it’s necessary. I love the picture of the ride into the mine shaft.

    • Hi Dan,

Thanks for swinging by and leaving a comment. And for keeping the Thursday Doors going! Such a wonderful theme and initiative.

  5. Looks like a cool place all right.

    • Bisbee is certainly one of our favorite towns in the Southwest. But still too cold in the winter (and too expensive) to ever live. 🙂

  6. Nice doors! A year and a half to post them isn’t long. Better late than never!

  7. What cool doors – you really found a variety! And hey, better late than never, right? 🙂

    • A photo blog is my way out of spending half a day on blog writing and posting. 🙂 In general, better late than never, yes. Although, most of my ideas never come to fruition.

  8. Great gallery and an inspiration to get to Bisbee one of these days. We moved to Arizona near the beginning of pandemic 2020 so have lots of travel catching up to do, not a bad problem, of course. 🙂

    • Hi Janet!

Thanks for swinging by Roaming About and leaving a comment. Yes, you will have a lot of exploring to do in Arizona. It’s an incredible state with so many things to see and do. Enjoy! And stay cool during the summer. 🙂

  9. Great doors, Liesbet. I especially love #603!

    • Good choice, Donna. I’m enamored by #603 as well. If that was my door, I’d be torn between giving it a fresh look in a bright color, or leaving it rustic as it stands.

  10. The magic door is very impressive. Gives an illusional look. And a trip down the Queen mines looks very exciting. That mode of transport looks fun.

    • Visiting the Queen Mine in Bisbee was a fun, exciting, and interesting adventure. But dark and chilly. And, we had to make sure to keep all limbs inside the cart. 🙂

  11. Oh, beautiful Arizona. And love your door finds! <3 I know all about 'one day', lol 🙂

    • Us writers have way too much going on in our heads, don’t we, Debby? Some of those ideas and thoughts will never see the light of day, however. Any idea when you’ll be back for a visit in Arizona?

  12. I like photos of doors. I don’t know why. I just do 🙂

    • Haha. It seems like doors are generally attractive and mysterious. There must be a reason that it’s a photo theme and blog hop. So, I guess you’re not alone in your door-loving tendencies, Deb. 🙂

  13. So many doors, so little time! Glad you joined in 🙂

  14. Great door pics. Would love to write a short on a few of them. Portals can lead to amazing places.
