Roaming About

A Life Less Ordinary

WW – Carnival is Fun!

I have decided to post photos of past travels in general and our eight year sailing adventure on SV Irie in particular for Wordless Wednesdays. I hope you enjoy them. Also, I can’t manage completely “wordless”, but I try my best at “almost wordless”. 🙂

Since I have archived thousands of photos over the years and can’t easily pick what to post, I use the weekly prompt of the Daily Post to inspire my Wordless Wednesdays. This week’s Daily Post photography theme is “fun“.

A lot of things are fun to me: hanging out with friends and family, attending festivals, doing exciting activities like tubing or rafting, spending time with pets or going on vacation (soon!).  But, for this entry, I followed the lead of my best friend Rosie who is still cruising on her sailboat Wandering Star (for over a decade already!) and is currently enjoying Grenada. She recently immersed herself in the island’s carnival scene and that brought back memories of vivid colors, beating drums, big smiles and lot of fun…

What does fun mean to you? Have you had any fun lately?

  1. Carnival – looks fun – and a little overwhelming!

  2. hola fantastisch heel mooi indrukwekkend groetjes mth.

  3. It comes in all shapes and sizes, Liesbet 🙂 🙂

  4. Wow! Such amazing color and action. I feel I can almost hear the music through your photos. ?What does fun mean? Like Jo I think it is a huge variety from holding our grandbaby to paragliding off a cliff and most everything in between. I think a lot is in the attitude as well. Fun can be found in even the chores if one is joking back and forth about it. 🙂

    • Haha. I have never thought of chores as fun! But, I see what you mean. I’ll try it while cleaning one day. Thank you for that insight. Your attitude is unbeatable, Sue, hence your remark about attitude is spot-on! 🙂

  5. Gosh, I like your (mostly) wordless Wednesday posts.

  6. How is it Friday already? I could have sworn it was still Wednesday. Sorry, for just now getting around to your WW picture. The costumes are amazing. I can’t even being to imagine how much work goes into making them.

    • Time flies, doesn’t it, Ellen. The days and the years. I can’t believe it has been five years since we were at this carnival in Grenada!

  7. Right now, fun means having the boat to myself! The Captain has gone to town to procure groceries and Komodo Park passes. It is the first time I have been alone in …well, I can’t remember when. Doing a little dance and delighting in your Carnival Pictures! I have not yet been as I basically sailed to the Caribbean and then went back to work. But surprise, surprise, The Captain is now considering sailing to Brazil, so I may have a Carnival in my future.

    • Wow! On at least two accounts, Lisa: seeing Komodo dragons and experiencing carnival in Rio! I keep my fingers crossed that both are in your future. Then, I’ll be the one delighting in your pictures. 🙂 It is one of the nicest things in the world, to be alone at home for a little while when usually living 24/7 with a partner. I hope you get to enjoy more of those moments. There must be enough errands you can send the Captain on, right?
